SLoFIG members have a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Current members are from the fields of consumer goods, management, finance, marketing and law and many have many years of experience promoting a healthy Chicago foodshed.  Others, however, have very little applicable profession experience.  What every member does share is a commitment to supporting local-food businesses,

SLoFIG members commit dollars, expertise, and time to the entire investment process. Because the network is member-led, all members assist in running the organization and participating on deal teams.

No member is required to invest in any particular company. SLoFIG does not operate as a fund, and each member decides for him/herself whether to invest in any given company. Investments may take the form of equity, debt, or convertible debt.

Prospective investing members must qualify as an Accredited Investor as defined in Rule 501 (a) of Regulation D under Rule 144 of the Securities Act.
